One of my favorite San Francisco shops, Rare Device, is kicking off the new year with a group show with a theme that I absolutely love: California Printed features the artistic interpretations of the Golden State in printed form. The list of artists and designers who are contributing exclusive works includes Emily Proud, Julia Lucey, Erica Sirotich, Jennifer Maravillas, Hero Design, Archie’s Press, Forest and Waves, 3 Fish Studios, Christina Song, Katrina Zapaala, Derek Macario, and Kehau Lyons.

“I wanted to have a group show that showcased a theme that people in the neighborhood/San Francisco can relate to,” explains Rare Device proprietor Giselle Gyalzen. “One of my former employees, Kevin Wilson, came up with the theme of California and suggested that we showcase different printing techniques. Thus, California Printed was conceived.”

The show launches tomorrow, January 10, with an opening reception from 6-8pm, and runs through February 26. If you’re not in the Bay Area, you can still pick up a piece from California Printed—they’ll be available on the Rare Device website next week.
