While it may seem counter-intuitive, I love working on the weekends. Going into a Monday with a major project finished feels like getting a jump start on the week. This weekend, Meg, Kate, and I spent two mornings prepping and shooting an upcoming story. It was productive and fun, and preparing for the shoot provided a big dose of inspiration. We needed a few last-minute props, so on Saturday afternoon I stopped in at Nathan & Co., a great housewares shops in Oakland. I was delighted to spot these cutting boards by Philadelphia-based Lostine.
These particular boards had caught my eye on the Lostine site before, but they’re even better in person. The thick slabs of wood with a soft, buttery finish, and the inset leather straps make them feel both substantial and luxurious. While we didn’t need them for this particular project, I’ve definitely bookmarked them for a future shoot.

Oh, I’m smitten with the boards and super excited to hear about a (new to me) local bay area gift shop that must have excellent taste. Thanks!
