Kate’s post yesterday about upcoming trends reminded me of another trend she told me she thought was about to catch on a couple months ago: modern stained-glass. As I was searching for props for a shoot this weekend, I came across the work of Halona Glass. It would seem Kate was right on in her prediction.
Halona Glass is a single woman stained-glass studio in Brooklyn. Trained by her mother, a stained-glass artist, Twiggy Levy is continuing the traditional art with with her own approach. While she does offer more classic, two-dimensional pieces, my favorites are these terrarium tops made from pretty beveled glass. The reflections and refracted light they create are magical. And if you are feeling ambitious, Twiggy has anĀ instructional video on Vimeo giving a quick overview of the steps to make one of her terrariums. Sounds like a great weekend project!
