Nikole Herriott’s Love of Pie

by kate on August 8, 2012

Is eight o’clock in the morning too early for pie? The answer is certainly not, especially when said pie is heaping with beautiful summer berries and fresh yogurt. Here at Anthology, we are all in agreement: pie for breakfast! Nikole Herriott is one of our favorite sources for culinary inspiration, and I’ve been eagerly devouring (literally and figuratively) her delectable new recipe series, “For the Love of Pie,” in which guest contributors like Jen Causey, Tim Mauzarek, and Heidi Swanson share their favorite pie recipes.

The summer berry tart featured above is a collaboration between Aran Goyoaga of Cannelle et Vanille and Nadia Dole of La Porte Rouge. According to Aran and Nadia, this tart works equally well with nectarines and cherries (yum), and is best paired with a dollop of whipped cream or ice cream. I’m very excited to celebrate the waning summer berry season by baking this tart, and I can only imagine the pies Nikole and her guests have in store for the upcoming fall months. You can see more recipes in the full archive of Nikole’s “For the Love of Pie” series, and for those of you who may have missed our feature on Nikole and her father in Issue No. 3, you might want to check out our film, which was shot on location at the Herriott family farm.
