Inflated/Deflated

by Alexis on July 30, 2012

On my to-do list this weekend was sending out a few belated notes and cards to friends scattered across the country. Finding a card with the right sentiment can be such a challenge; I usually just end up going with something pretty, but blank. So I was especially excited to discover Inflated/Deflated.

Inflated/Deflated is a creative trio out of Chicago who came up with the idea behind this lighthearted project—inscribing a thought on a balloon. According to the Inflated/Deflated site, “like that of one’s thoughts being released, so too is the air of the balloon.” The results are a fun typographic effect.

While they aren’t traditional cards, the sentiments depicted on these deflated balloons are funny, heartfelt, and sweet. And for the cost of just a little more than a nice card, I think the prints of these balloons would be a great token to send in the mail.
