This past weekend the entire Anthology crew drove to Carmel for a team retreat. It was an epic event: Meg whipped up some crepes and Alexis recreated the delicious breakfast fare from Heirloom LA’s spread in Issue No. 7; we discovered Pompelmo San Pellegrino and raspberry cheese ale, poured through books, and brainstormed well into the night for upcoming issues and dream projects. Despite the fog, it was the perfect summer beach trip, and I even have a sunburn to prove it. It was a little hard to come back home, but the work week ahead is brightened by the fact that Issue No. 8 is about to be released!
This summer issue’s theme, “It’s A Living,” is near and dear to our hearts: we profile creative professionals who deftly balance work and home, and bring their artistic sensibilities to every facet of their lives. One such couple is Jean Lee & Dylan Davis of Ladies & Gentlemen Studio, who I have followed for years and whose products I adore. It’s rare to see a design studio where every product they release is a success, but L&G continue to impress me time after time with innovative, beautiful, surprising designs. These are a three of their newest pieces, and—no big shock here—I love them all. Simple materials and sculptural sensibility are the driving forces behind most of Jean and Dylan’s products. As you will see in Issue No. 8, it is the guiding principle behind their approach to their home as well. I can’t wait for you to see their beautiful home, and I hope you take a peek at these new pieces in their shop, too. We’ll be sharing a preview of Issue No. 8 tomorrow and the video trailer on Wednesday, so stay tuned!
