Terrence Payne

by Alexis on July 2, 2012

I spent the weekend contemplating a few projects around my apartment—in particular looking for beautiful wallpaper patterns. Hygge & West is always a great source of wallpaper inspiration. While I was looking around their website, I came across their line by Terrence Payne, an artist who was new to me. I clicked over to learn more about him and was enamored with his work.

Payne is an artist who lives in Minneapolis. His large pieces are done mostly with oil pastels, and looking at them, it’s immediately clear why a collaboration between Hygge & West and Terrence Payne was meant to be. The pretty, graphic patterns that appear in nearly every piece are perfectly suited to be translated into wallpaper. The patterns feel like playful, loose interpretations of classic forms. They seem to embody the carefree charm of Payne’s work.

oh my gosh, that wallpaper is stunning and would work as well in a bathroom as an entry way!

That seahorse pattern is beautiful! And I love all the bright colours he uses.

Wow! These works are quite amazing.
I like the first portrait. There is something gripping about it – the bizarre picture first grabs your attention, and then the details keep you looking.
