Pernille Snedker Hansen

snedker°studio, founded by Pernille Snedker Hansen, is an interior surfaces design firm that has created a beautiful line of marbled wood floors. But the sketches Pernille creates before selecting the patterns to transfer to wood are incredible on their own. The marbled pieces are created using traditional techniques of floating pigments on a water bath, and then picking them up with a sheet of paper (or piece of wood) when the design is just right.

It’s easy to see where Pernille draws inspiration for the patterns she creates—intricate wood grains. Each pattern looks like a magnified view of the rings of a tree. Her marbled floor boards end up with a motif that strongly resembles an enlarged end grain. To see Pernille dripping pigments to create a beautiful print, as well as to hear more about her design philosophy, check out a video of her working here.
