Recipe Roundup: Cherries

by Alexis on June 15, 2012

As Kate mentioned yesterday, we’ve got some exciting new food-related ideas developing that we’re looking forward to testing out at our upcoming Anthology meetings. I’ve been enthusiastically scouting for potential subjects and right now I can’t get enough cherry inspiration. The farmer’s markets and produce sections in the Bay Area are overflowing with sweet Bing and Rainier cherries, with the promise of their tart counterpart, the sour cherry, not far behind. Since the sour cherry season can last just a few weeks, I’ve been anxiously waiting for them to appear at the grocery store. The second they arrive, it’s enough of a reason to make a pie (or maybe that delicious looking lemonade, above). In the meantime, there are plenty of recipes suited for the sweeter varieties. Nothing is quite as summery as a plump red cherry, and I intend to take advantage of their fleeting season this weekend with one or two of these delicious recipes.
