Filisky Light

by Alexis on May 10, 2012

One things I’ve learned watching the wonderful photographers we get to work with at Anthology is how much light sets the mood for a picture—and I think the same can be said for a space. The apartment I live in has almost no overhead lighting, so I’ve had to be very deliberate in selecting lights for particular spaces. And not everything has been a success. After an all-too-long stretch with a flood light in our bedroom, bringing in something softer transformed the space.

These gorgeous lights from Tokens of Living have a fascinating glow. Each metal lamp is hand-drilled with hundreds of holes to create unique patterns, which cast incredible shadows. I can imagine the warm, magical feeling of being in a room with them. I’d love to see them in person.

After a lighting class I took during my course last year, I’ve become absolutely enamoured with light and the we can manipulate it to create certain moods and how important it is to a photograph. I would love to be in a room filled with these lights. I can just imagine how it would feel.
