Alexis’s post yesterday on Dark Side of the Lens, a documentary film about a surf photographer, made me ache for the ocean. Unfortunately I’ve been too busy to take any beach trips, but I can still surround myself with things that evoke the sea to put my mind at ease. When I look at these lush abstract paintings by Tobias Tovera, I can practically hear the rhythmic crash and lull of waves.
I love paintings like this, where you sink into them, and lose yourself for a time. According to his statement, Tobias is interested in “discovering transmuted spaces, places where energy shifts, changes, or renews itself.” I certainly feel this effect when I look at these works. I can’t think of a better place to experience energy shifting and renewing than the constant ebb and flow of water in motion. If you are interested in acquiring one of these incredible pieces, you can contact Tobias here. Have a great weekend, everyone!
