“Living in a bubble” is supposed to be a bad thing: it means that one is isolated, naive, oblivious to the world outside. But have any of us ever considered what the literal manifestation of this metaphor might be like? Now that I’m actually looking at it, I think it might be a wonderful thing indeed, to live in a bubble … for a little while at least. One might feel isolated, perhaps; but certainly not oblivious to what’s around.
These portable, inflatable dwellings are made by the French company BubbleTree, and they come in varied styles: the all-transparent Cristal Bubble, the partially opaque Bubble Room, the suspended BubbleTree house. Whatever type of bubble you choose, you are guaranteed a blissfully strange experience within your surroundings—”unusual nights,” as the site puts it. With prices starting around $9000, these are certainly not for everyone. However, if you really want to know what it’s like, there are several bed and breakfast sites located in France that have BubbleTree dwellings. Needless to say, if any of you decide to venture there and experience “living in a bubble” literally, you must report back to us with details!
