As you may have gleaned from the pages of our magazine, we love tackling the occasional home decor project. Whether it’s a vertical wall garden or a comfy upholstered headboard, we relish the chance to roll up our sleeves, especially if the end results is something beautiful for a very reasonable price.
I have a tendency to take on elaborate projects, ones where I can learn how to use a new tool or get my hands on lots of new materials. I chalk it up to professional curiosity. But every so often, I just want a quickie project—something fast and easy, with minimal prep or mess and great results. I was delighted to stumble across this doormat tutorial by photographer and blogger Kinsey Mhire; it’s my new favorite project on the quick-and-easy list.
The sign of a successful simple tutorial is when you don’t even need written instructions. Just follow the visual cues below, and in less than hour (plus drying time of course) you’ll have yourself an artful way to welcome all visitors. This project is great for beginners as well; the uneven type and eyeballed chevron design only adds more charm.

I was just babbling on to my poor husband, about how few great door mats there are out there. I think I feel a wknd project coming on. I love this idea!
mine’s going to say “leave”
I was wondering what kind of doormat do you usually use?
Thank you,
Samantha
Where do you get the mats at, what brand of mat do you buy and what type of spray paint do you use? Please let me know Thanks.
