{The Dig} Light Painting by Rashad Alakbarov

by kate on February 3, 2012

Happy Friday! I’m eager to dive into the weekend—I want to take advantage of the unseasonably warm sunny weather to move into my new studio space (yay!), before we’re back in winter for another month. Last week I stumbled upon this image and was stopped in my tracks. Artist Rashad Alakbarov uses suspended materials and directed light to create these stunning wall “paintings.” It would be wonderful to see this in person, to observe if the pieces swing gently when there is movement in the room. This piece was just on display at Phillips de Pury gallery, so perhaps those lucky Londoners can let us know what it was like. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Wow, very cool indeed. I’ve seen other artists make sculptures in which the shadow is the image, but somehow I never thought about doing that with color. Thanks for sharing!

Wow! I can’t even imagine how much time and patience must go into making sure things line up properly. All the details and little nuances. Absolutely beautiful!
