The nice weather we’ve been having lately has been a welcome change to the endless rain I’m accustomed to this time of year, and the rare opportunity to see the sun in January has reminded me of how beautiful it can be as it sets against a bleak, bleached-out winter landscape. Spring and summer will be here soon enough, and with them comes an influx of energy, growth, and an explosion of bright, vivid color. For the moment, however, I feel quite content to revel in winter’s quiet, soaking in the palette of icy greys and pale, frosted yellows on an unseasonably sunny winter day.

Truly Lovely! Perfect palette for a day like today.
I can definitely gain the sense of such winter days by this round-up–especially that cake…the winter months are all about comfort foods, right? :)
