Food Lover’s Cleanse from Bon Appétit

by kate on January 3, 2012

I don’t know about you, but I inevitably gain a few pounds during the holiday season, mainly due to the increased intake of wine, sweets, and decadent cheese biscuits that arrive in the mail from my mother’s side of the family. I have no problem with carrying this extra layer, my “winter coat” so to speak, through the holidays—but when I let it hang around well into the warmer months, as I have in previous years, I feel a bit remiss. While browsing for healthy recipes yesterday, I discovered my new favorite post-holiday solution to the decadence: Bon Appétit’s 2012 Food Lover’s Cleanse.

Regardless of whether or not you feel the need to detoxify after the holidays, there’s no denying the appeal of these delicious-looking meals, brimming with natural, fortifying, healthy ingredients. They remind me of Donna Hay’s cuisine: clean, simple, fresh, and beautiful to look at. Bon Appétit breaks it down for you by day, and provides a downloadable shopping list and schedule, making the two-week cleanse nearly effortless. I plan to start tucking into some of these recipes immediately, and if any of you try them out, I’d love to hear what you think. Also, if you love the look of these meals, you might want to check out last year’s cleanse for more great ideas. Here’s to a happy, healthy 2012!
