Anthology Magazine | Films | Strata-cut Animation by Nicos Livesey

You may remember the awesome collages done by Rose Blake that we featured in our inaugural Sketches column a few months back. Rose is part of the UK-based collective of animators and illustrators known as This Is It. Ever since I discovered Rose and her fellow creatives, I’ve been eagerly devouring news of their recent and future projects, and these abstract claymation videos shared recently by Nicos Livesey blew me away. To be honest, the hard metal soundtrack is not quite working for me; they seem more suited to “Yellow Submarine,” or maybe something off of Daft Punk’s Discovery. But the explosion of movement and color is undeniably worth seeing.
