{Sketches} Lizzy Stewart

by kate on August 1, 2011

This is one of my favorite Sketches yet—something about the way Lizzy Stewart captures human features, even when working on such a small scale, really amazes me. The characters conveyed in her portraits draw me in and hold me there, which is an  impressive feat for a small, simple sketch.

Lizzy Stewart graduated from the Edinburgh College of Art in 2009, and has already amassed a large collection of high quality work including paintings, drawings, and books filled with sketches like the ones shown here. According to Lizzy, her work is inspired by folk culture, music, and the details of the city that surrounds her. You can browse her online portfolio of work on her site, and if you’re interested in adding a piece of Lizzy’s work to your collection, you can check out her prints, books, and cards in her Etsy shop.

i like her works, too! to be honest, not all of them, but there’s really something very charming and innocent about her works.

They’re all wonderful and narratively heartwarming. Lovely, Lizzy!
