I love the feeling of open air when I sleep, but I’m not a huge proponent of sleeping on the hard, bumpy ground, I must admit. If camping trips somehow entailed hiking into an idyllic wooded forest and stumbling upon a luxurious well-made bed nestled among the trees, I’d go camping a lot more often. I’ve collected some of my favorite images of indoor/outdoor abodes, and I hope they provide a little inspiration for your summer sleeping. Some of these setups may be a bit unrealistic, but bringing a bit of the indoors out into nature when the weather permits can be a lovely experience, even if it’s just a blanket in a hammock, or bringing out a cozy chair to sit among the trees. Happy summer everyone!

Oh I’m completely swooning over these photos! I’d love to climb into bed with the sun beaming down on my skin and rock myself to sleep while listening to the birds chirping in the tree tops.
If you like sleeping al fresco, check out Barbara Moore’s Dragonfly Ranch in Captain Cook HI on the big island. Her website says it all.
