Colorful Interiors

by kate on June 20, 2011

Whenever summer rolls around, I feel compelled to break out the bright colors anywhere and everywhere I can, and I know I’m not alone in this trend. It’s so fun to watch this transition occur across the board in fashion, home design, even food—long live the summer color revolution! These photographs are from the portfolio of stylist and set designer Lo Bjurulf, and I think they capture the sentiment perfectly. She not only inspires me to be a bit more daring in my color choices, but also to think more creatively about decorating walls. Why not experiment with painterly murals or expressive color swatches? Sounds fun! If anyone wants to share their favorite color-filled interiors for inspiration, send them here! We’d love to see them.

Although I’m not sure I could live with it, I love the idea of the cabinet door color swatches. What a great way to liven up a plain kitchen and give it some personality. It kind of reminds me of Fiesta-ware dishes.

The bird mural is so unique. What an amazing focal point.

I love the off-set painted yellow rectangle idea–kind of tricks your mind but it’s so creative & adds just enough color to the bright space.
