Wow! Anyone looking for some artistic inspiration should follow Leanne Shapton’s amazing collection of watercolors for The New York Times. “A Month Of…” is a series that captures tiny details of daily life—a floral print on the dress of a passerby, a sunset through the trees. These incredible images are all patterns that caught Shapton’s eye, which she then reinterprets in paint and labels with a caption. The captions are wonderful because they provide a little peek into Shapton’s daily routines; plus, they allow you to picture the print as she may have seen it in real life.
There are other collections, including Sunday Walks (another personal favorite of mine), Tuesday Blooms, and more. The series will appear the last week of every month, so stay tuned for all the beauty still to come! Do any of you capture daily inspiration in sketches, paintings, or some other creative form? Please share some with us if you do!
* In case you missed it, here is a link to our post on Leanne’s painted books, which we raved about earlier this year!

Ohhh! These are lovely! I wish each was available in fabric form… They’d make for some beautiful lamp shades!
