{The Dig} Kristiina Lahde

by kate on April 15, 2011

This version of The Dig happens to fall on tax day, and I figured what better way to celebrate the end of all that paperwork than to share an artist who uses recycled office supplies to create something fantastic? Kristiina Lahde creates intricate paper cuttings and art installations from envelopes, post-it notes, computer paper, and more. Her patterns are incredibly precise and beautiful, and its wonderful to see mundane materials transformed in such lovely ways. I’ll probably just shred my extra tax stuff, but seeing a creative output like this provides a very therapeutic end to tax season. Have a great weekend, everyone!

I wish I could think of such clever things to do with my old envelopes. I usually just end up scribbling random notes on them.

These really are such unique pieces of art, reminiscent of the snowflakes I’d make in grade school. Lovely find. :)
