In preparation for all the outdoor activities that accompany the spring season, I’ve been heavily considering outfitting my home with one of these colorful rubberized floor mats from Trish Andersen and Maureen Walsh, the artistic duo behind Domestic Construction. Known for its inventive use of materials and one-of-kind installations, Domestic Construction also offers a small range of design objects, such as the floor mats and their popular Ted Lights—chandeliers made from clusters of vintage teacups.
The mats are digitally dyed with five unique handmade collage patterns designed by Trish and Maureen. The material is flexible and easy to wipe clean, making it perfect for indoor or outdoor use (although the mats will fade in direct sun). I have my eye on the large Day Tripper (shown below), but would be happy to greet any of the cheerful, graphic designs on my way out the door.

That second mat (the Sandsweeper) you showed would be FANTASTIC in the house I’m getting in the fall. Too bad it’s a bit out of the price range. :( But gorgeous nonetheless.
These are fantastic! We’ve had a few rugs that either look terrible, get in the way of the front door opening & closing or become a great big lump n the corner when we play fetch with our dog in the evenings.
This could be a good solution…hmmm…
These are truly remarkable. So beautiful! And made of rubber? Sounds easy to clean and maintain!
