{The Dig} Kiel Johnson

by kate on March 25, 2011

Cardboard is one of the our favorite materials here at Anthology. We’re fans of anyone who not only shares our interest in the modest material, but also uses it to create something extraordinary; someone like L.A.-based artist Kiel Johnson, for example. These cameras are made of nothing but paper, tape, and glue. Can you believe the detail? Incredible.

You can see more of his cardboard creations—violins, typewriters, boomboxes, flutes—on his site. Anyone planning a summer trip to Virginia should definitely check out his solo exhibit at the Taubman Museum of Art to view the work up close. The show will run from June 3rd to August 28th, 2011.

Honestly, I don’t know where you find this stuff, but it’s just so great.
