Yastik by Rifat Özbek

by kate on February 1, 2011

During my endless search for new throw pillows, I’ve stumbled upon some genuine treasures, such as these eclectic cushions by Yastik. In collaboration with his partner Erdal Karaman, Turkish designer Rifat Özbek created a huge line of bespoke pillows using textiles sourced during his travels around the globe. The collection is named Yastik (from the Turkish word for cushion) and it’s incredible.

The Yastik showroom is in Turkey, but inquiries can be made via email. For more information, you can visit the Yastik site. In the meantime, a jolt of rich color and beautiful print seems like the perfect antidote for the dreary winter weather, so I’ll leave you with a few of my favorites:

Really nice pillows. Surprisingly modern looking considering their traditional motifs. And the showroom looks beautiful.

Thanks for the comment, Bill. Aren’t they incredible? They seem like textiles you could only find by traveling through a region and seeking out the local artisans there. If you want to take a trip to Turkey, you should definitely come back for the post tomorrow…I have found an amazing hotel in central Turkey in the most unbelievable setting…stay tuned!
