Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co.

We here at Anthology have more than a few weaknesses when it comes design, and to that list I’m adding these artful wood vessels by Josh Vogel of Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co. Vogel’s large sculptural works are all hand-turned from maple, walnut, and other hardwoods he sources locally from his workshop in upstate New York. I stumbled upon his work over at The Scout, which has a wonderful interview with Vogel featured on their site right now. Vogel’s stunning work captures the individual character of each piece of wood, and I love how he manages to turn every imperfection into an invaluable artistic gesture within the design.

It should come as no surprise that the organic, sculptural elements of his work echo in the interiors of the lovely cottage that Vogel shares with his girlfriend, Kelly Zaneto. I was happy to discover that Design*Sponge posted a sneak peek of their Hudson Valley home just last month. There is no official shop site yet, but if you’re looking for more information or wish to contact Vogel with purchase inquiries, you can visit his blog here.
