This is too amazing an idea not to try on my own someday. These attribute collection portraits are the work of Jelmar Geertsma, a Dutch graphic designer, typographer, and type designer. The portraits depict each member of his family through objects they each use in their lives, either for work or fun. The paintings of each family member in the the upper corner are all done by Geertsma’s father (whose self portrait is in the last image below). I love the thought of describing a person visually in this way, and I hope this is a series that he decides to elaborate on somehow.

Love this idea. I plan to do one to honor my father who passed away November.
These are beautiful. It’d probably be a real challenge to frame them, but we’d still be excited to do a design for such unique art. Thanks for posting!
