I don’t know about you, but when I received my first issue of Anthology and read the “Nice Ride” article on bicycles, I had a hard time not rushing out to procure one of those sweet rides for my very own. In truth, I am not the most confident bike rider in the world, but I do have memories of coasting in the summer breeze during my childhood and how enjoyable it was. I would love to bring that joy back into my urban dwelling, somewhat risk-averse adulthood.
For a little additional bicycle love, I thought I would share these amazing typography bikes from Swiss designer Juri Zaech. Although currently it remains just a concept, the Write-A-Bike is simply too cool to not be developed in some fashion.
I’m not an engineer and I cannot speak to the feasibility of these frames, but as a designer and a lover of type, I greatly appreciate the creativity behind the idea, as well as the superior grace and simplicity of the design itself. According to Juri, he’s on his way to producing a prototype, so I plan to stay tuned and see where this whimsical idea may lead.

These are such fun. I’d go for a lovely bright yellow option!
I loved riding a bike as a child but, it’s been years since I’ve been on one as an adult. I love seeing someone riding around on a bike that takes me back in time and I’d love to find one that I’d feel confident enough to ride down by the bay. What fun colors!
